Friday Night Drama Group
The Drama group is a continuation of the youth work that we started in Partnership with Glasgow Life and now have increased the number of partners as we now work with Govanhill Youth Project and Theatre Ecole providing much needed services to our young people in the local area.
The first production that the young people involved worked on was a scene from the Disney hot ‘Frozen’ it went down extremely well with those who came along for the grand finale and the young people were superb and entertained the audience.
As well as the creative skills the young people have learned by participating in the Drama group it has also assisted them with their ‘Youth Achievement Awards’ and also ‘Dynamic Youth Awards’.
The group are currently working on a production called the ’Larkfield Academy’ which they have written and created the background music for and will be performing it around May time for their peers, family, management committees of the voluntary organisations involved and also Glasgow Life Senior Management and local elected members.
The young people are from a variety of backgrounds for e.g. some are young carers the group has bonded very well together and as well as learning new hard skills such as learning about the production of music to go along with the performance and performance techniques there are also softer skills being achieved such as: self-esteem, confidence building, socialising with other young people from various backgrounds that they might not otherwise have had the opportunity to do so.
Group meets on a Friday from 6pm – 8pm so if there are any budding young people out there who have a keen interest in drama and music then our Friday Night Drama is the place for you !!!
